2015 dates are 16 -17 May and 8-9 August.
These classes are sponsored by the Sierra Desert Gun Club and are conducted twice each year (spring and summer).
Hunter Education Instructors are trained and certified by the California Department of Fish & Game.
Classes are extensively advertised in the local media, are open to the general public, and may be re-taken.
There is no set age limit – youth under 12 frequently fail the written exam, although they will learn about gun safety.
The class includes a firearms handling session, which is part of the instructors’ evaluation of the student.
Registration is held in the lobby of the Kerr-McGee Center at 9 am – 1 pm on Saturday,
two weeks prior to the class start date, and on the following Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm.
Minors’ registration forms must be signed by their parent or legal guardian.
Class fee of $10 is collected at registration.
